The airflow power required normally depends on the size of kitchen and type of cooking. The correct airflow for the product to be installed can be easily worked out. Simply multiply the volume of the kitchen by ten and you will obtain the ideal airflow for that room. For example, for a kitchen of 3m x 4m with a height of 2.7m: (3 x 4 x 2.7) x 10 = 324. Any product with airflow superior to 324 m3/h will therefore guarantee the complete and efficient ventilation of the room.
Style of cooking is also important, however.
1. For those who are used to preparing quick meals in a relatively small kitchen, the model to choose is one with airflow of up to 200/300 m3/h.
2. A family of three to four people with a medium-sized kitchen and who cook a variety of different foods should select a model with airflow of 300/400 m3/h.
3. For big families, for those who love the culinary arts or for a large gathering of friends in a large kitchen cooking elaborate dishes, the hood should have airflow of at least 400 m3/h.
Efficient aspiration of fumes from the cook top also depends on the correct use of the product. It is normally a good idea to switch the hood on at its lowest speed when you start to cook, turning up the aspiration level as fumes and odours increase. When you finish cooking, turn the speed down again and keep the hood on for another 5 – 10 minutes.
