Air filtration

Two distinct types of air filtration are present in a hood.

1. The first is a grease filter placed directly at the intake mouth of the product. The grease filter's function is to protect the interior of the product by filtering out the heavier grease particles from the sucked-in air. These filters can be made of synthetic material, which must be periodically replaced, or of easily washable aluminium. Other filter versions include the aluminium grid filter (GFA) and stainless steel grid filter (GFI): both are easy to detach from the hood and can be washed either by hand with washing up liquid or in the washing machine.

2. The second type of filter is the odour filter, which is present only in filter version hoods. These filters purify the air sucked in by the hood, which is then returned to the original environment. The traditional odour filter is a specially designed plastic container containing active carbon granules that can capture and hold grease, humidity and odours. These filters must be periodically replaced every 3 to 4 months.

In addition, Elica offers the technologically innovative Long Life Filter. This particular filter guarantees increased efficiency and unlike the traditional version has an extremely long life cycle. It does not in fact need to be replaced: it can be easily regenerated with a wash in a washing machine. It can then be dried in the oven for 10 minutes at 100° and reattached to the hood. Following this simple operation, the Long Life Filter guarantees high efficiency for up to 3 years.
