Third place for Elica in the Us Award 2008

Elica has been awarded an excellent third place in the US Award 2008 competition “Workplace: quality and innovation”. Organised bythe magazine Ufficio Stile, part of the Editorial Group of Il Sole 24 Ore Business Media – Il Sole 24 Ore being Italy’s most famous business newspaper –  the competition looked at some of the country’s best companies in terms of their working environment, concentrating mainly on the design of the workplace itself, with the additional intention of promoting and spreading the culture of quality and innovation there.

The third place prize, shared with Dante Bonuccelli’s project for the Great Hall of Milan’s Bocconi University, goes to the architect Riccardo Diotallevi, who, in partnership with Guzzini Engineering and Luca Pianelli, designed and built the offices of Elica’s Head Office in Fabriano.

The highly qualified jury explained that it was awarding the prize to the Elica architect “for having redefined the original structure in a fresh and elegant way, incorporating interesting solutions aimed at improving internal comfort and the impact on the external environment (soundproofing panels on the ceiling, mirrors to help spread light, double-system air conditioning to keep energy consumption low etc.) and for having created a distributive layout capable of both gathering people together and balancing the disposition between open space and privacy at the work stations.”
The Elica offices were chosen from over 80 projects and evaluated on the basis of an innovative concept of Italian lifestyle,which pays great attention to the working environment in terms of how expressive it is of the most highly evolved form of company philosophy.

First place in the competition went to architect Antonio Citterio for the new offices of Ermenegildo Zegna and second place to Simone Micheli for the Information Office for the province of Milan.

The awards ceremony will take place on 4th February in Milan at the prestigious offices of Il Sole 24 Ore, designed by Renzo Piano.
