Neonlights uses the material and colours of the urban landscape in the domestic environment: a game of resonances between internal and external. By superimposition, the project –a personal composition of modern memories – works through the space-time dilatation of the image of modernity, a combination of industrial iconography, nocturnal metropolitan visions and tension between wonder and anxiety.

After graduating in architecture at Florence University, Cristiana Vannini moved to Milan in 1991 to become chief executive of the Lighting Design Centre of Targetti Group. From 1992 to 1996 she collaborated with Alessandro Mendini undertaking exhibition design projects and supervising publishing activities. In 1996 she began her career as a freelancer designing interiors and exhibition stands and also working for the international design magazine Domus. As a product designer she developed projects for furniture companies as well as taking part in exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In 1998, in partnership with Paolo Cesaretti she set up her own firm vc a based in Milan.

From 1982 to 1988 Paolo Cesaretti worked as a music journalist and independent record producer. In 1994 - after graduating in architecture at Florence University - he joined the Amsterdam based architects Van Berkel & Bos taking part to the competition for the new housing plan of the former industrial area Zeeburgereiland. Back in Milan, he established a position as head of the interior design department of Von Klier Associati; among their clients Olivetti, Omnitel, Lancia/Fiat Auto, Ferrovie dello Stato. In 1998, in partnership with Cristiana Vannini he set up his own firm vc a based inMilan.

From 1998 vc a has undertaken projects in different areas including interior design, exhibition design and corporate identity and working mainly with fashion, information/communication technology and entertainment companies. vc a is also involved in product design, domestic interiors and furniture design. In 2001 the company won the Banca Fideuram Competition to redesign the company's interiors of their office branches. In 2002 they completed the design proposal for Borbonese shops throughout Europe and Japan. In 2003 they won the second prize - within the Interior Design Section - in the “Ideal Office Competition” supported by the Italian government, and gained the “visitors prize” at the Competition “2x1, new materials for italian design”. Among their clients are: United Colors of Benetton, Valtur, Samsung, Symantec, Borbonese, Ceramiche Ragno, Cosmit, American Marazzi Tile, Gruppo Targetti.
Paolo Cesaretti and Cristiana Vannini are currently teaching - Interior Design Master Class - at Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan.
