Seventh edition - COMUNITA / COMMUNITY

“Comunita’/Community” was the title of the 2004 edition of the prize, dedicated to groups of people united by  certain shared elements: perhaps a common home territory, a type of job, the family, or participation in some form of collective rite.
The exhibition provided a wide panorama of how and why Art has never ceased to take an interest in a theme that involves our history and also our future. Once again the Ermanno Casoli Prize offered an occasion to reflect upon the evolution of culture through the work of contemporary artists, 17 of whom were invited to take part in the event, organised by critic “Valerio Dehò”, with techniques running from video installation to digital printing to photography and painting.
A new initiative was also begun in 2004 with the organisation of a summer workshop, given by a photographer and a ceramic artist, which realised a series of works documenting the transformation of the local community of Serra San Quirico over the past few decades.
