A book, a website and an exhibition: the best of Italian design is encompassed here, selected by the experts of the ADI Design Permanent Observatory and collected in the ADI Design Index 2013, noted reference point for the world of Made in Italy design and creativity.
The products and projects, divided into several categories, which won through the long and intensive selection process and will be candidates for the Compasso d’Oro, were presented at the Triennale di Milano, together with the new edition of the book that the Association for Industrial Design creates each year. This year too, the innovative design of the book, published by Corraini, is the work of the Zup Associati studio, and features a layout that uses an interactive mode of consultation based on QR codes to move easily between visual details, images, text, and critical contributions.
The products selected for the "Design for living" category include one particular stand-out item: Fabrizio Crisà’s 35cc cooker hood created for Elica, a design object with a technological heart that breaks the mould in the kitchen. Form and colour highlight an original cube of only 35 cm in size and created by the intersection of two C-shaped shells: the outer one, aesthetic and colourful, hugged around its functional partner in smooth or perforated steel. The concentrated result of formal research and efficiency, 35cc offers different types of extraction (perimeter or macro-perforated stainless steel) and comes in island and wall versions and with duct-out or recycling installation options. 35cc is also the main feature of the Design | Opera exhibition, open on the first floor of the Triennale Palace of Art until November 3, in a special setting designed by Studio N! 03 to depict the visionary and revolutionary spirit of Italian design.
