Duct-out hood

Duct-out hood

The duct-out hood exhausts air to the outisde. This is the most used type, because it ensures high performance, high capacity and low noise level.

Recirculating hood

Recirculating hood

The recirculating hood removes bad odours by means of a dedicated charcoal filter and reintroduces air into the kitchen. This type is suitable for rooms with no extractor duct, affords air saving and avoids thermal losses to the outside.

Extractor hob

Extractor hob

The hood is perfectly integrated into the hob. Extraction is carried out from below through extractor vents positioned near the burners, which convey fumes and odours down to be expelled within the kitchen body.

What size should the hood be?

Every Elica hood is a great hood. But, what size should the right one for you be? The rules are simple: for the hood to be truly efficient, the model must adapt to the size of the hob.

However, knowing the dimensions isn’t enough: in order for the hood to work its best you must also know at what height it needs to be positioned, and what is the recommended air flow rate for your kitchen space.

How far away should it be installed from the hob?

How far away should it be installed from the hob?

This parameter is regulated by an official directive setting forth standard distances, that all of our models follow.
Every Elica product comes with an installation and instruction manual, which must always be followed to guarantee maximum performance.
As a rule, the minimum distance between the bottom of the pots, positioned on the hob, and the lower surface of the hood, cannot be less than 50 cm for electric hobs and 65 cm for gas ones.

How do I choose the air flow rate?

An ideal hood adapts to its environment and to the habits of whoever uses the kitchen. To guarantee maximum performance, it is important to know how to choose the proper air flow rate of your desired model. First of all, the flow rate value must be calculated, which is obtained by multiplying the cubage of your kitchen by ten.

Example: for a kitchen with a volume of (surface x height) of 50m³, you must calculate 50x10 = 500 m³/h.
The value of 500 cubic meters / hour represents the minimum hood air flow rate suitable for your kitchen.

How many people do you usually cook for?

You also need to consider the daily use of the hob: occasional cooking, for one or two people, requires a lower flow rate than when cooking for a larger number of people. Furthermore, for anyone who enjoys cooking more elaborated meals, such as fried foods or stews, we recommend choosing an even higher air flow rate.

How many m² is your kitchen?

Value calculated with a standard height of 2,70 m.

Lighting

The importance of lighting

The right lighting for your kitchen

According to our philosophy, the hood plays the starring role in the kitchen space. For this reason, hood lighting should always match the mood of whoever lives in the home and uses the kitchen. Lighting should offer innovative solutions that outline the entire space, in addition to illuminating the hob.

Back Aspiration

Back Aspiration

Higher installation flexibility is the key factor of all the products equipped with this extra feature. Operation in duct out mode occurs by connecting the hood directly to the back wall, thanks to an additional air outlet obtained by rotating the air conveyer, or with the use of a specific bent pipe. Therefore, back aspiration discharges cooking fumes without using any chimneys or visible pipes, without altering the original look of the appliance.

Multi-D Capture

Multi-D Capture

Products equipped with this extra feature allow extraction to be no longer localized in a single zone but distributed on a wider surface, so as to guarantee higher fume capture performance. It is a fluid dynamic system that allows extraction speed to be increased, as a result of an appropriate sizing of air flow surfaces. Therefore, this system ensures high cooking fume capture efficiency levels, by increasing negative pressure along the entire perimeter of the appliance.
