Verdecuratoda: a plan(t) for all seasons

The goal of Verdecuratoda – designed by Ettore Favini (Cremona, 1974), an artist who has often worked together with the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli – is to create the largest plant sculpture in the world.
Favini has devised some “distributors” – partly sculpture, partly design object – which, with the insertion of a one euro coin, produce balls containing plant, bush and flower seeds, so that anyone can contribute to the creation of a green area, whether on their own terrace at home or in a public flowerbed. It’s the kind of idea involving innovation and sustainability that both Elica and the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli have been encouraging from the outset: in 2008  one of the distributor-sculptures containing seeds that could be planted was installed in Elica’s Fabriano head office, and it’s still there today in the company’s “piazzetta” leisure area. Since then, the project has grown exponentially. Verdecuratoda was the recent subject of an exhibition at Rome’s Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, and at the beginning of the year the “Verdecuratoda” association was set up with the aim of spreading the good practices promoted by the project. Also worth noting is the realisation of the www.verdecuratoda.org website, where all the information can be found regarding participation in this “collective action” and donations can be made. A real “plan for all seasons”, in other words.
